Dr. Priya Iyer

PRIYA A. IYER, MD

Dr. Priya Iyer is a board-certified internist with more than 25 years of experience caring for patients throughout Fairfield County. Known for her thoughtful, personalized approach to medicine, she has built her career around taking the time to listen carefully, understand the whole patient, and help patients navigate both routine and complex medical issues with clarity, compassion, and expertise. Her areas of special interest include preventive medicine, chronic disease management, cognitive decline and dementia care, women’s health, and longevity medicine.

After completing medical school as a merit scholar at the University of Delhi, where she graduated in the top one percent of her class and earned distinction in Physiology, Dr. Iyer pursued additional training in neurosurgical critical care and gynecology before moving to the United States. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at New York Medical College/Westchester Medical Center, where she had the opportunity to train with and learn from some of the nation's leading medical researchers.

Dr. Iyer began her medical practice in Stratford in 1997 and moved her practice to Wilton in 2000 when she joined Wilton Medical Associates in Wilton Center, where she established strong roots in the community before co-founding Wilton Internal Medicine with Dr. Nancy Gade in 2008. Together, they created a practice dedicated to highly personalized, relationship-based care, emphasizing accessibility, continuity, and a deep understanding of each patient's unique health journey.

A proud Wilton resident for more than 30 years, Dr. Iyer lives in town with her husband and has been deeply involved in the community both professionally and personally. She has volunteered her services to the School Sisters of Notre Dame when they were in Wilton. She fondly remembers her years as a chess mom at school. She is the proud mother of two adult sons whose academic journeys has taken them to the University of Chicago, Princeton University, and Yale University.

Dr. Iyer considers it a privilege to care for multiple generations of local families and remains committed to providing the kind of thoughtful, comprehensive medical care that allows patients to feel heard, supported, and empowered. Her goal today is the same as when she started her practice nearly three decades ago: “ I want to build lasting relationships while helping my patients achieve their best possible health and quality of life”.

Dr. Iyer has an impressive depth of knowledge across a wide range of medical conditions and her clinical instincts about what may be going on are consistently spot on. She has been caring for my 90+ year-old father for the past 3–4 years, and we have been deeply grateful for her expertise, responsiveness, and compassion.

Her promptness in seeing him, along with her genuine understanding of our family’s circumstances, has been unparalleled. She is also supported by Nancy, who handles appointments, testing coordination, and the many important details that support excellent patient care. Together, they provide care that is both highly capable and deeply humane.

My mother was at the Greens in Wilton and Dr. Iyer was her doctor. She was thorough and truly cared about her during our last three years of life. Dr. Iyer made sure she was comfortable and never pushed for more treatment than necessary, which was her wish.
